You may have noticed that the podcast has, once again, stopped coming out. I’m starting to think we were never meant to have a show. The program that I just bought crapped out on me and won’t let the episode be released. I’m currently talking to the developer to see if I can get it fixed. We aren’t sure yet on the future of the show. As of now, we are trying to get it back on track. Let us know what you think at thegameadvisor@gmail.com and/or mail@ravinglucidity.com.

Yeah, It’s changed. Our podcast hosting ran out so we had to change our provider. Basically, we’re starting from the ground up. I will try to move as many of the old posts as possible so that you feel at home. We should be back to full operation before too long.

We’ve all been there, especially during the holidays. So many good games come out all at once. There is no way you would be able to play them all but, on the other hand, you don’t want to miss out on the new hotness. You are faced with a dilemma. Get the games you want to experience them early or settle for the most important and risk missing out. Will you turn into an A.D.D. gamer?
It’s not hard to see why this is a common problem. I myself have a shelf full of games that go unfinished. Every time something nice looking comes out, I get about half way through it before the next big thing is released. I begrudgingly take the first game out of the console, promising that I will one day return. But the disc knows I won’t be back to take it out of it’s dark case. This cycle continues over and over. The chances of me actually going back are very slim. Today’s games don’t have the replay ability that NES games had. Most of them are so long now that I couldn’t imagine starting from the beginning again.
Sure, I should probably cut back on the games I get and limit myself to one at a time. Not only would this solve the A.D.D. problem, it would also save me some money. I just don’t like the idea of being left behind. Everyone will be talking about game “B”, while I will still be working on game “A”. That also opens the door for spoilers. If it takes a gamer three weeks to get through a game that he bought a monthe after it came out, chances are he is going to have some things ruined.
We can’t blame the developers. They aren’t marketing to the people who are going to get every big title. They assume they are fighting for the person who buys less than five games a years. I can name five games I want just for the month of October, and I’m sure plenty of you can too.
I’m going to try to do a little better this year. I’m still going to go ahead and get the games I want, but wait until I’m done with one to go to the next one. With big games like Fable 2 and Fallout 3 coming out in a few weeks, I should be kept busy until early ‘09 at least. If nothing else, maybe this will keep me from buying too many games later on.
What about you? Do you suffer from Gaming A.D.D.? How do you cope with the ever rising amount of releases coming up?

Well guys, it may be over. We may have to shut the site down. I mean, with other game reviewers like this, how can we hope to stand out?
I’m just kidding. This actually makes me want to get Braid and do a real review.

If you have listened to the podcast’s first episode, we thank you very much. I’m afraid, however, that I owe all the listeners an apology. In the show, I announce that there will be links to all of our topics on the website. And as you can see, there aren’t any. And there never will be for this episode.
You see, as we were going over them I was unmarking them in my RSS reader so that I wouldn’t bring them up again. I didn’t remember that this would make them disapear if I closed the browser. Well, guess what I did. And so, all of the articles vanished back into their respective hidey holes.
Don’t worry though. All the articles I had were more just topic generators instead of news items. I have found a better way of saving the items now and will share links in the future. Sorry for the trouble guys.
Thanks.
